Responsible-use warning: a name match does not prove identity. Start here

Brevard County court records start with the Clerk, but not every record uses the same path

The Brevard County Clerk’s Courts department covers several court-record divisions, including Circuit Civil, County Civil (Small Claims), Family Law, Felony, Jury Services, Juvenile, Misdemeanor, Probate and Traffic. For many public case lookups, the starting point is the Clerk’s BECA – General Public Court Records Search.

Do not confuse court records with official recorded documents, sheriff records, police reports, property appraiser records, vital records or a full background check. Brevard County’s public-record routing page separates Clerk court records from Sheriff case reports, arrest reports, warrants and background-check requests.

BECA Public case search

Use the Clerk case-search page and select General Public Court Records Search after the disclaimer.

18th Judicial Circuit

Brevard and Seminole counties are served by Florida’s Eighteenth Judicial Circuit.

$1 Copy page fee

The Clerk copy-cost page lists a $1.00 per-page copy fee.

$2 Certification

Document certification is listed at $2.00 per document.

Email privacy warning: Brevard Clerk pages repeat Florida’s public-record notice that email addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address released in response to a public-records request, contact the office by phone or in writing instead of email.

Which Brevard County court-record route should you use?

Use this table before searching. It prevents the common mistake of searching the official-records index, sheriff records, federal PACER or a traffic payment page when you actually need a court case docket or certified court document.

Court divisions

Brevard case types: civil, criminal, family, probate, juvenile and traffic

Civil and small claims

Circuit Civil and County Civil, including Small Claims, are Clerk Courts Department categories. Search by case number when possible, and request official copies from the Clerk rather than relying on screenshots.

Felony and misdemeanor

Felony and misdemeanor court records are separate from arrest reports, jail custody and background checks. Use BECA for court records and verify final disposition before relying on a criminal result.

Family and divorce

The Family Civil Division includes simplified dissolution, dissolution, support, injunctions for protection, adoption, paternity, name change, custody change, repeat violence and foreign judgments. Some records may be restricted.

Probate and guardianship

Probate and guardianship records may include sensitive financial, medical or protected-person information. Use the Clerk’s probate route and contact the Clerk for copies or restricted access questions.

Juvenile

The Clerk separates juvenile delinquency and juvenile dependency. Do not assume juvenile records are public online or available through ordinary name search.

Traffic

Traffic citations can involve payment options, hearing requests, school election rules and court appearances. Payment eligibility is not the same as a final disposition or certified court record.

Florida court access limit: BECA access is governed by Florida electronic court-record access standards. Some dockets or document images can be unavailable to the general public, delayed, restricted by role, sealed, confidential or redacted.
Avoid wrong database

Brevard court records are different from Official Records, sheriff records and county records

The Clerk’s Official Records search is useful, but it is not the same as a BECA court case search. The County public-records page also separates Clerk court records from Sheriff arrest reports, case reports, warrants and background checks.

Brevard County record type comparison
Need Likely source Why it matters
Civil, criminal, family, probate, juvenile or traffic case docket Brevard Clerk Case Search / BECA This is the correct route for court case records and docket activity.
Certified copy of a court document Research and Copy Request Center / Clerk Records and Research Certified copies must come from the official custodian, not from a screenshot.
Deed, mortgage, recorded lien or official recorded document Brevard Official Records Official Records are recorded-document records, not ordinary court dockets.
Arrest report, warrant, jail, 911 dispatch or sheriff background record Brevard County Sheriff or law-enforcement records unit Law-enforcement records are not final court dispositions.
Birth or death certificate Florida Department of Health / vital records route The Clerk copy center says it cannot provide statewide database searches and points birth/death copies elsewhere.
Federal district or bankruptcy case PACER / Middle District of Florida Federal records are not in Brevard Clerk BECA.
Official Records unique note: the Clerk states Official Records index data dates back to 1/1/1981 and images, as applicable by statute, are available from 1/1/1981 to present. This date range is for Official Records, not a guarantee of complete online court case access.
Appeals and federal

Brevard County appeals, Florida ACIS and federal PACER records

Florida Appellate Case Information System Open ACIS

Use for Florida Supreme Court and District Court of Appeal public dockets.

  1. Search by appellate case number when known.
  2. Use party or lower-tribunal information only when available and accurate.
  3. Remember that some dockets and documents may be restricted.
  4. Contact the trial Clerk for trial-court file copies.
Fifth District Court of Appeal Open Fifth DCA

Use for Fifth District appellate court information and notices.

  1. Use ACIS for public docket access.
  2. Check current appellate rules and notices before filing.
  3. Do not use the appellate site as a replacement for BECA trial dockets.
  4. Use the lower court Clerk for certified trial-court records.
Middle District of Florida Open FLMD PACER lookup

Use for federal district cases. PACER lists Brevard County under the Middle District of Florida.

  1. Confirm the case is federal, not Florida state court.
  2. Use PACER Case Locator if the federal court is unknown.
  3. Use the Orlando federal court route when that division applies.
  4. Do not request federal records from the Brevard Clerk’s BECA portal.
Middle District of Florida Bankruptcy Court Open bankruptcy PACER info

Use for bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings in the Middle District of Florida.

  1. Use PACER for electronic bankruptcy case summaries and docket information.
  2. Use VCIS by phone when you only need basic bankruptcy case information.
  3. Use public terminals in Clerk offices where available.
  4. For archived bankruptcy files, follow the federal archive instructions.
PACER pricing verified September 1, 2026: PACER currently lists $0.10 per page, a $3.00 cap for many case-specific documents and quarterly billing only when usage is more than $30. PACER has announced a temporary increase to $0.12 per page and a $40 quarterly waiver threshold effective January 1, 2027.
Access limits

What Brevard County court records may be restricted, missing or delayed online?

Florida’s electronic court-record access rules are designed to allow public access to non-confidential records while limiting confidential and sensitive information. A missing online result does not always mean the case does not exist.

Records that may be limited
  • Sealed or expunged criminal records.
  • Juvenile delinquency and dependency records.
  • Adoption and child-related family records.
  • Domestic violence injunction information.
  • Guardianship, probate or mental-health-sensitive filings.
  • Protected identifiers, financial accounts and exempt personal information.
What to do instead
  • Confirm you used the correct case type and portal.
  • Search by case number if available.
  • Contact Records and Research for copy questions.
  • Ask whether a document image is available, delayed or restricted.
  • Use registered access only if you qualify.
  • Do not try to bypass court confidentiality rules.
Internet-image caution: a public docket entry and a document image are not the same. Some images may be delayed, restricted, redacted, unavailable to the general public or available only through a qualifying registered-user process.
Record interpretation

How to read Brevard County docket results responsibly

Party roles

Plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, respondent, appellant, appellee, decedent, guardian, ward, child, obligor, obligee and victim-related labels are case roles. A role does not automatically prove wrongdoing.

Case status

Open, pending, closed, disposed, dismissed, reopened, transferred, satisfied, withheld, adjudicated or sealed should be read in context. A single label may not explain the full outcome.

Docket events

Complaint, petition, citation, information, motion, notice, order, hearing, judgment, injunction, plea, sentence, warrant, dismissal or satisfaction entries are court events. They are not all final outcomes.

Filing is not proof: a complaint, petition, lawsuit, citation, criminal charge, warrant, injunction request or motion is not a final determination unless the court record shows the final disposition.
Troubleshooting

What to do if a Brevard County court-record search returns no result

Check search mistakes
  • Wrong system: BECA vs Official Records vs sheriff records vs PACER.
  • Traffic payment page used instead of case search.
  • Federal case searched in Brevard Clerk records.
  • Wrong spelling, business name, suffix or middle initial.
  • Case filed in another Florida county or in federal court.
  • Old link or direct bookmark to a replaced legacy system.
Check access limits
  • Sealed, expunged or confidential case.
  • Juvenile, adoption or child-related restriction.
  • Family, probate, guardianship or injunction privacy limit.
  • Document image delayed or not available remotely.
  • Record requires registered access, clerk review or copy request.
  • Older paper or archive record not exposed in the public portal.
Best next step: contact the Clerk with the case number, case type, party names, filing year, court division and exact document needed. Ask whether the record is online, public, restricted, sealed, redacted, archived, image-delayed, available by copy request or held by another court or agency.
Privacy and legal safety

Use Brevard County court records responsibly

Do not overstate what a record means
  • A citation is not automatically a conviction.
  • A charge is not a final disposition.
  • An injunction petition is not always a final injunction.
  • A civil complaint does not prove liability.
  • A docket may be incomplete, delayed or later corrected.
  • A common name can match multiple people.
Do not misuse public information
  • Do not harass, threaten or retaliate against anyone.
  • Do not republish unnecessary personal information.
  • Do not try to bypass sealed, expunged, juvenile or family-law restrictions.
  • Do not treat this page as legal advice.
  • Do not use this page as a background-check report.
  • Use official custodians for corrections and certified records.
Corrections, sealing, expungement and protected-record requests: contact the Clerk, the court, the official custodian or a licensed Florida attorney. This independent guide cannot change, remove, seal, expunge, correct, certify or authenticate a court record.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Brevard County court records

How do I search Brevard County court records by name?

Start with the Brevard County Clerk case search page and open BECA General Public Court Records Search after accepting the disclaimer. Use the case number when possible. If you search by name, compare the court division, case type, filing date, party role, docket entries and disposition before assuming the result belongs to a specific person.

What is BECA in Brevard County?

BECA means Brevard Electronic Court Application. The Clerk describes BECA as online access to court records under Florida Supreme Court Administrative Order AOSC14-19 and later amendments, and as the replacement for the older eFACTS program.

Which Brevard County court divisions does the Clerk list?

The Clerk’s Courts department lists Circuit Civil, County Civil including Small Claims, Family Law, Felony, Jury Services, Juvenile, Misdemeanor, Probate and Traffic. The correct route depends on the case type and whether you need search access, payment, copies, or a court-specific procedure.

Are all Brevard County court records available online?

No. Online access can be limited by Florida court access rules, confidentiality, sealing orders, juvenile protections, family-law restrictions, probate restrictions, redaction rules, image availability, or registered-user requirements. Contact the Clerk when a record is missing or a document image is not available.

How do I get certified Brevard County court documents?

Use the Brevard County Research and Copy Request Center or contact the Clerk’s Records and Research office. The copy-cost page lists a copy fee of $1.00 per page and document certification at $2.00 per document. Credit and debit card orders can include a convenience fee.

Where do I find Brevard County divorce and family court records?

Divorce and family matters route through the Circuit Court Family Civil Division and the Clerk’s Family Law records process. The Clerk lists matters such as simplified dissolution, dissolution, child or spouse support, domestic violence injunctions, adoption, paternity, name change, custody change, repeat violence and foreign judgments.

Where do I search Brevard County traffic tickets or criminal fines?

Use the Clerk’s Criminal / Traffic Fines page for online payment, in-person payment, or mail payment instructions. A payment page is not the same as a complete court-record search, so verify the case record separately in BECA when you need docket or disposition information.

Are Brevard County official records the same as court records?

No. Official Records include recorded documents such as deeds, mortgages, liens, contracts, affidavits, subdivision plats, surveys, condominium declarations, bills of sale, judgments, military discharges and declarations of domicile. Court case records are searched through case-search routes such as BECA.

Where do I search Brevard County appeals and federal cases?

Florida appellate public dockets are searched through the Florida Appellate Case Information System, and Brevard County appeals are associated with the Fifth District Court of Appeal route. Federal district and bankruptcy cases use PACER and Middle District of Florida federal court systems, not the Brevard Clerk’s BECA search.

Can I use this page for employment, tenant, credit or insurance screening?

No. Public-Court-Records.us is not a Consumer Reporting Agency, and this guide is not an FCRA-regulated background-check product. Do not use this article to make employment, housing, credit, insurance or tenant-screening decisions.
