Guadalupe County court records depend on the court and clerk that handled the case

The County Clerk provides court-record assistance for civil, probate and misdemeanor criminal records handled through the County Clerk. Justice of the Peace courts handle Class C fine-only cases, small claims, debt claims and evictions. State appeals and federal cases use separate systems.

Judicial records search

How the Guadalupe County Judicial Records Search works

Guadalupe County links users to a Tyler public access portal for Judicial Records Search. The portal help page explains that users can search civil, family or probate case records and court calendars using the available search menu. It also explains that different search areas can include Probate/Guardianship Case Records, Civil/Family Case Records and Court Calendar.

Search options described by the portal help page
  • Case: search by case number.
  • Party: search by party name; last name is required.
  • Attorney: search by attorney name; last name is required.
  • Date Filed: search between a range of filing dates.
  • Calendar: search by case, judicial officer or party/defendant name where available.
Helpful search features
  • Wildcard: use an asterisk at the end of an incomplete name or case number when the portal allows it.
  • Last-name wildcard: the portal help says at least three characters are required before using wildcard on a last name.
  • Case-number wildcard: the portal help says at least four characters, other than dashes, are required.
  • Soundex: may help with similar-sounding names.
  • Important: wildcard and Soundex cannot be used together on the same search.
Open the official Judicial Records Search portal.

Use the link from guadalupetx.gov or the Tyler public access URL. Avoid unofficial look-alike background-check pages.

Choose the correct search area.

Do not search probate if the case is a JP citation, and do not search a county misdemeanor payment route for a family-law case.

Search by case number first.

Case-number lookup is usually more precise. Preserve the exact format from the court notice, citation, docket, petition or order.

Use name search carefully.

Search spelling variations only when appropriate. Compare the case number, court, case type, party role, filing date and docket sequence before relying on a result.

Open the case-number link in the search results.

The portal help says case information is viewed by clicking the case number hyperlink from the results screen.

Request copies separately.

Searching a case, paying a cost and ordering a certified copy are separate tasks. Use the correct clerk or Clerk E-Certify route.

Portal-result warning: a case lookup is not a legal opinion, title determination, background-check product or proof of final outcome. Verify the final judgment, order, dismissal, sentence, nondisclosure or appeal status with the official custodian.

Access limits

Why some Guadalupe County court records may be missing, restricted or redacted

Public court access is not the same as complete remote access to every document. Texas court records may be limited by statute, court rule, sealing order, expunction, nondisclosure, juvenile confidentiality, mental-health confidentiality, guardianship privacy or personal-identifier redaction.

Common reasons a search fails
  • Wrong clerk: District Clerk vs County Clerk.
  • Wrong court: district, county court at law, JP, municipal, appellate or federal.
  • Name spelling, business suffix, maiden name or party-role mismatch.
  • Case number entered without required formatting.
  • New filing not yet visible online.
  • Older record not indexed in the current portal.
  • Federal bankruptcy or district case in PACER.
Records that may have special limits
  • Juvenile matters.
  • Mental health proceedings.
  • Guardianship and probate-sensitive documents.
  • Adoption records.
  • Victim information and protected addresses.
  • Sealed or expunged criminal records.
  • Nondisclosure orders and restricted-access documents.
  • Personal identifiers such as Social Security numbers and financial-account details.
Do not bypass restrictions: if a court record is sealed, expunged, confidential, restricted or subject to nondisclosure, respect that restriction. Do not search for leaked copies, repost protected information or reconstruct restricted details from other sources.

Docket help

How to read a Guadalupe County court docket responsibly

A docket or register of actions is a chronological record of activity in the case. It is not a background report, jail booking, criminal-history product or proof that an allegation is true.

Party role

Plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, respondent, appellant, appellee, creditor, debtor, decedent, guardian and ward mean different things. A party role does not automatically mean wrongdoing.

Docket entry

Complaint, petition, motion, notice, order, judgment, dismissal, hearing, plea, sentence, ticket, bond or payment entries should be read in sequence and verified with the actual document when needed.

Case status

Open, pending, disposed, dismissed, closed, appealed, sealed, expunged, nondisclosed or restricted can describe procedural status. It may not answer every question about guilt, liability, collection, appeal or satisfaction.

Neutral wording rule: do not call someone guilty, liable, evicted, convicted or responsible based only on a filing, accusation, citation, arrest, charge or docket title. Verify the final court disposition.
