Orange County Florida court records start with the Clerk and the case type

The Orange County Clerk of Courts is the main custodian route for court records in Orange County, Florida. The Clerk’s my eClerk site provides remote public access to many court records and non-confidential documents managed by the office. But not every record is online, and the right route depends on whether you need civil, criminal, traffic, family, probate, juvenile, mental-health, appeals, official recorded documents, or federal records.

500 Result limit

my eClerk searches are limited to the first 500 results, so refine broad searches.

1990 Docket coverage note

Online docket information is available for most cases from approximately 1990 to present.

2009 Document image note

Documents are available from 2009 to present for most case types.

$1 Per-page copy fee

The Clerk records page lists court-record copies at $1 per page.

Most important search tip: court records, jail custody, police reports, Comptroller official records, property records, marriage records, appeals and federal cases are separate systems. Use the case type and custodian first, then search by name or case number.

Official search

How to use my eClerk for Orange County Florida court records

my eClerk is the official Orange County Clerk of Courts remote search route for many court records. It allows searches by case type, first name, middle name, last name, business name, case number, citation number, and date range. Name searches require first name and last name. Date searches require both Date From and Date To.

Open the official my eClerk records search.

Use the Orange County Clerk of Courts website or the direct myeclerk.myorangeclerk.com records search. Avoid sponsored people-search or background-check pages.

Pick the best identifier.

Use a case number or citation number first if you have one. For name searches, enter first and last name. For a company, use business name instead of forcing the company into person-name fields.

Use the official case-number format.

my eClerk explains case-number formats such as YYYY-XX-999999-A-O and YYYY-XX-999999-O. Keep the year, case-code letters, sequence, division letter and Orange County suffix when shown.

Refine broad searches.

Record searches are limited to 500 results. Add case type, exact name spelling, citation number, filing date range or business name to reduce unrelated results.

Check coverage limits.

Online docket information is available for most cases filed from approximately 1990 to present. Documents are available from 2009 to present for most case types.

Do not treat a no-result search as proof.

Some records are sealed, expunged, confidential, older, not yet online, or limited to certain users. Mental-health searches except Risk Protection Orders generally do not return results for the general public.

Use the Clerk for official copies.

For certified copies, purge letters, diligent search letters, exemplification, older records or documents not on my eClerk, use the Clerk’s records request process.

Access-level note: the Florida Supreme Court determines user access levels. General-public users, case parties, attorneys, agencies and law-enforcement users may not see the same information. Parties on Family or Mental Health cases may need to register and verify party status for increased access.

Appeals and federal

Orange County Florida appeals, ACIS, Sixth DCA and PACER

Florida state appellate route

Orange County appeals use the Clerk’s appeal filing and record-preparation route, and appellate docket information is available through Florida ACIS. Orange County appellate matters commonly route to the Florida Sixth District Court of Appeal after Florida’s DCA boundary changes.

  1. Save the lower tribunal case number from my eClerk.
  2. Use the Orange County Clerk Appeals page for filing and record-preparation information.
  3. Use ACIS for Florida Supreme Court and District Court of Appeal dockets and available documents.
  4. Contact the appellate clerk when online docket information is not enough.
Federal district and bankruptcy route

Federal cases are separate from Orange County Clerk of Courts records. The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Orlando Division serves Orange County federal district matters. Bankruptcy records route through the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida and PACER.

  1. Use PACER Find a Case if you do not know the federal court.
  2. Use the Middle District of Florida when the matter is a federal district case tied to Orlando or Orange County.

PACER also announced that on January 1, 2027 the temporary per-page fee will increase from $0.10 to $0.12 and the automatic quarterly exemption will increase from $30 to $40. Verify PACER’s current pricing page before relying on any fee.
Troubleshooting

What to do if your Orange County Florida court-record search fails

Check search problems
  • First and last name not both entered for a person-name search.
  • Business name entered as a person name instead of business-name field.
  • Case number entered without the full year, case code, sequence or Orange County suffix.
  • Search is too broad and hits the 500-result limit.
  • Date search missing Date From or Date To.
  • Case is too new, older than online coverage, or document is not available online.
Check access or custody problems
  • Record is sealed, expunged, confidential, viewable-on-request or non-public.
  • Record is Family, Mental Health or Juvenile and has special access restrictions.
  • Record is a Comptroller official record, not a court case.
  • Record is federal, appellate, jail, police, vital-record or property-appraiser material.
  • Record requires a certified-copy request, not portal viewing.
Best next step: contact the Orange County Clerk of Courts with the case number, party names, party date of birth when required for a records request, approximate filing year, case type and exact document needed. Ask whether the file is online, paper, sealed, confidential, viewable-on-request, archived, destroyed under retention, or available only through certified-copy request.
Privacy and legal safety

Use Orange County Florida court records responsibly

Do not overstate what a record means
  • A complaint, citation, information, indictment or petition is not proof that the allegation is true.
  • An arrest or jail booking is not a court disposition.
  • A dismissed case may still need the actual order to understand the result.
  • A civil judgment may not show whether money was paid, appealed, vacated or satisfied.
Do not misuse public information
  • Do not use this page for FCRA-regulated screening.
  • Do not harass, threaten, shame or retaliate against anyone.
  • Do not republish unnecessary personal information.
  • Do not try to bypass sealing, expungement, juvenile confidentiality, mental-health restrictions or protected-case restrictions.
For corrections, sealing, expungement, confidential-record, redaction, viewable-on-request or certified-copy questions: contact the Orange County Clerk of Courts, the court that entered the order, FDLE where applicable, or a qualified Florida attorney. This independent page cannot change, remove, seal, expunge or certify a court record.
